Philosopher Bernard Stiegler died on August 6, 2020 at the age of 68, announced the International College of Philosophy.
Bernard directed Ircam from 2002 to 2006. In a visionary way, he supported the RepMus projects around improvisation and the first international event at Ircam, which was to become Improtech, and succeeded in federating research and creation around common dynamics, with new methods, by concretely putting interdisciplinary groups to work, which was to lead notably to Ircam's first orchestration software, as well as the first European projects federating all our components.
Beyond the polemics and tensions of the time on the methods and stakes of musical research, these successes speak for themselves, and he will remain a figure of our institute.
