Mathematics, music and et relations with other disciplines
The MaMuX seminar seeks to develop a hypothesis of relevance, both musical and mathematical, of the mathematical/musical relationship through an exploration of the links created with other disciplines such as computer science, logic, philosophy, epistemology, linguistics, cognitive sciences.
The topics covered in the seminar include (among others) the formalization and representation of musical structures, mathematical and computer methods in musical theory, analysis and composition, set theory and transformational, diatonic and neo-Riemannian theories, mosaics and paving, logic and calculability, theoretical computer science, cognitive sciences and theories of perception, or the philosophy and semiotics of mathematics and music.
The Seminar is organized by the Musical Representations team of UMR STMS (Music and Sound Sciences and Technologies, IRCAM-Centre Pompidou / CNRS / UPMC) with the support of the CNRS and the Réseau National des Systèmes Complexes (RNSC).
