
Markus Noisternig is Deputy Director of the STMS Lab - a joint research unit of IRCAM, the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), Sorbonne Université, and the French Ministry of Culture - where he is a researcher in acoustics and audio signal processing within the Acoustics and Cognitive Spaces research team.
He is also Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), Austria, and teaches at Sorbonne Université, the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière (Paris), and the École supérieure d’art et de design TALM-Le Mans.
He studied audio engineering and acoustics at Graz University of Technology (TUG), and computer music composition at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG), where he also completed his doctorate with honors in the fields of acoustics, audio signal processing, and psychoacoustics.
Markus Noisternig’s work spans the fields of experimental music and scientific research in immersive three-dimensional audio. He is widely recognized for his contributions at the interface of artistic creation and technological innovation, and has collaborated on numerous international projects with leading composers and contemporary music ensembles, presented at major festivals across Europe and beyond.
